{"id":485,"date":"2016-08-24T17:02:52","date_gmt":"2016-08-24T21:02:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/putrescence.org\/wordpress\/?p=485"},"modified":"2016-08-24T17:02:52","modified_gmt":"2016-08-24T21:02:52","slug":"closer-still","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.putrescence.org\/?p=485","title":{"rendered":"Closer still&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No recent updates, but I have been working on things.<\/p>\n<p>The wiring has been a real PITA. \u00a0Not difficult, just very tedious. \u00a0At this point, I have the engine wired, though, and gave it a minor electrical test. \u00a0The battery is reconnected, and power seems to flow to the electrical systems:<\/p>\n<div id=\"Photo-5693-me\" class=\"PiwigoPress_photoblog\"><!-- PiwigoPress Started --><div class=\"PWGP_shortcode img-shadow\"><a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/piwigo.putrescence.org\/picture.php?\/5693\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"PWGP_photo\" src=\"https:\/\/piwigo.putrescence.org\/_data\/i\/upload\/2016\/08\/24\/20160824165121-ca3a52b4-me.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a>\n\n      <\/div><\/div><!-- PiwigoPress Ended -->\n<p>That is MegaSquirt2\/Extra code getting loaded. \u00a0Exciting times, Goose.<\/p>\n<p>One weird problem that I need to troubleshoot: \u00a0The ASD and fuel pump relays both need to be fired up from the MS fuel pump relay output. \u00a0In order to do that, I&#8217;ve added a third relay so that the MS will power the relay which will, in turn, power both the ASD and fuel. \u00a0The diagram I found indicated the need for a diode to prevent the fuel pump and ASD relays from feeding in to each other, but it looked like the diagram showed the diodes installed backwards, so I installed them the way I thought they should be. \u00a0Now, as soon as I plug in the MS controller &#8211; even with the ignition off &#8211; the fuel pump turns on. \u00a0So, MS is powered down, but we&#8217;re pumping fuel. \u00a0Apparently I got too smart for myself.<\/p>\n<p>MS is responding to throttle input and sees the O2 sensor and the CLT sensor, but I haven&#8217;t calibrated any of the other sensors or anything yet. \u00a0For now, I&#8217;m going to leave the IAC disconnected like it was before and I&#8217;ll worry about that later. \u00a0Likewise on the tach output. \u00a0I completely don&#8217;t understand the schematics that I&#8217;ve found from the Megamanual, so I&#8217;ll get back to that later.<\/p>\n<div id=\"Photo-5694-me\" class=\"PiwigoPress_photoblog\"><!-- PiwigoPress Started --><div class=\"PWGP_shortcode img-shadow\"><a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/piwigo.putrescence.org\/picture.php?\/5694\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"PWGP_photo\" src=\"https:\/\/piwigo.putrescence.org\/_data\/i\/upload\/2016\/08\/24\/20160824165140-a15a4c18-me.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a>\n\n      <\/div><\/div><!-- PiwigoPress Ended -->\n<p>The list:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>PS belt<\/li>\n<li>Run wires across front and right side of engine<\/li>\n<li>Connect water hoses to hardline<\/li>\n<li>Connect heater core water hoses<\/li>\n<li>Install radiator<\/li>\n<li>Install cooling fans<\/li>\n<li>Re-install MegaSquirt<\/li>\n<li>Install PCV system<\/li>\n<li>Add hose barb to air cleaner pipe for valve cover breather<\/li>\n<li>Install intake pipes and hoses (I think the hot side pipe that I want to try to use is still at the storage garage)<\/li>\n<li>Install PT air temp sensor<\/li>\n<li>Torque down O2 sensor<\/li>\n<li>Install oil filter sandwich adapter<\/li>\n<li>Install oil filter<\/li>\n<li>Fill engine with oil and turn by hand a few times<\/li>\n<li>Install axles<\/li>\n<li>Fill transaxle<\/li>\n<li>Try to start engine<\/li>\n<li>Re-install front end<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No recent updates, but I have been working on things.
